Most clinics describe a first visit as ‘a consultation’. We prefer to tell you exactly what happens, because the unknown is what makes people postpone the appointment for another month. Here is a primary-care first visit at 214 Court Street, from the elevator to the parking garage.
Before you arrive
Register online in two minutes when you book: name, date of birth, insurance plan and the reason for the visit. That is the whole form. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID; if you take medication regularly, a photo of the labels is enough. You do not need to bring old records — with your permission we request them.
At the clinic
Check-in takes under two minutes because the paperwork is already done. A nurse takes your blood pressure, weight and, if it is relevant, a quick EKG in room 2. Then you sit down with your doctor for 25 minutes. We book 25-minute slots because ten minutes is not a conversation, and the first visit is mostly conversation: what brought you in, what you are worried about, what has already been tried.
If your doctor wants blood work or an ultrasound, it happens in the same hallway, the same morning. No second appointment for routine tests, no referral letter to carry across town.
After you leave
Blood results are in your patient portal within 24 hours with a short note in plain language. The written plan from the visit — what we found, what to do next, when to come back — is there the same evening. If anything needs action, your doctor calls you. A follow-up slot is pre-offered so you never have to chase one.
